How to Clean a Broom Head:

1. Shake or Tap Off Loose Debris

  • Take the broom outside.

  • Tap it against a hard surface or shake it to remove loose dirt, dust, and hair.

2. Remove Stuck Debris

  • Use a gloved hand, comb, or old brush to pull out hairs, strings, or larger bits stuck in the bristles.

3. Wash the Broom Head

  • If it’s plastic or synthetic:

    1. Fill a bucket or sink with warm water.

    2. Add a few drops of dish soap or antibacterial cleaner.

    3. Soak the broom head for 15–30 minutes.

    4. Scrub gently with a brush if needed.

  • If it’s a natural fibre broom (like straw or corn):

    • Avoid soaking. Instead:

      1. Dip the bristles quickly in a mix of warm water and mild soap.

      2. Rinse immediately and shake out excess water.

4. Rinse Thoroughly

  • Rinse under running water to remove all soap.

5. Dry Properly

  • Hang the broom bristles down or lay it flat in a well-ventilated area.

  • Make sure it’s completely dry before storing to prevent mould or mildew.

Bonus Tips:

  • Disinfect with a vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 3 parts water) if desired.

  • Clean your broom every 1–2 months, or more often if used for messy jobs.
